In a simple yet worth-remembering ceremony, the OIC, Chief of Police of this municipality, Police Captain Jonathan T. Mendoza was awarded as one of the Ten Outstanding Police Officers of La Union (TOPPLU) in the area of special operations.

It is the declared policy of the province of La Union under its Ordinance No, 119-2017 to honor and recognize annually the outstanding and meritorious performance of police officers in active duty or who died in line of duty.

In a related development, PCPT. Mendoza and nine others of his men, arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Presiding Judge Emmylou Valois-Mangasar of RTC Br. 25, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur Ryan Palinas y Taan, Top 1 Most Wanted Person of Alilem, Ilocos Sur.

The culprit was arrested in his residence at sitio Culliang, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet on September 19, 2023 for violation of Article II, Section 16 paragraph 1 of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 and committed at BJMP, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur.
